I have read this book over a dozen times and find that it's one of my go-to books during times of increased stress or spiritual need. As someone involved in broadcast & journalism, I find it poorly edited (spelling, grammar), but the content of the book is very well chosen and organized. I have read many books on near-death experiences, but find this one to be the most objective of them all -- and lacking in the airy-fairy weirdness so common to such books. If you've lost a loved one or pet and need comforting about where they are, what condition they're in and whether you'll see them again, I encourage you to read The Eternal Journey. I have bought and given away many copies of this book, and have loaned it to numerous people over the years. Some of them have sought me out later and told me, "This book changed my life." Whenever I do public speaking, such as college lectures, I mention this book -- it's that important to me. I challenge anyone of any religion -- or no religion -- to read this book and believe there's no afterlife...and not to find this book extraordinarily comforting. When I get really, really down on life on or myself, I remind myself of the content of this book, which essentially says that we choose our life's trials and tribulations before we come to Earth, kind of like applying to a college and choosing your courses of study. As such, one can't shake one's fist at the sky for all the ills one is going through; one must just take a deep breath and say to oneself, "I chose this for the purpose of learning from it. What am I supposed to be learning?" When taken in that context, one's life's challenges take on a new importance...and seem to lose some of their bite. I simply cannot highly enough recommend The Eternal Journey. It has been a blessing to me and I know it will be to you. Buy it.

I order books on a wide array of different topics. That of the NDE[near-death experience] is a topic that has always captivated me. Let's face it, one day, we'll all have to take our own 'eternal journey'. So, suffice to say, this was a good topic for me to read into further. This book does a good job of trying to shed some light on what may possibly await us on the other side. However, the book repeats itself on several occasions and paraphrases what it has already stated. Another reason I rate it lower is because the author[s] don't really mention the hellish NDEs and mainly stick to the heavenly ones, thus giving the book an unbalanced viewpoint. They do however, advance many a wild theory on why certain aspects of the NDE correlate with our lives. For example, one theory[which is pretty much stated as fact] is that we all individually choose how our earthly lives turn out from a spirtual world before we are even born[as a living spirit in the spirit realm]. That is to say every detail of our lives are chosen by us in advance before we are born in order to learn life lessons and enlighten ourselves. Interesting reading. I definetely give the author[s] credit for attempting to think outside conventional reasoning.

If you can overlook the repeating aspect and enjoy reading about near-death experiences, this book will interest you. I just wish there had been more balance.

I found that every detail was put into this book to bring attention to every aspect of "N.D.E.'s" Near Death Experiences..
I marveled at all of the details that was in this Book. To me I needed to read this Book, to bring me certain assurrences about the Love of Jesus that I felt while reading it. I cannot say that everyone, will feel what I felt from reading about a of the Love that everyone felt, however, I can say I felt it.

I have read many books on Near Death Experiences. This is one of the best! So many people were interviewed to compile all of these experiences. You come to understand that NDE's can come to all races, ethnicity's, religious backgrounds, atheists, and all ages, It reaffirms to me that there is a better place to go after this life is over. This book is not written for religious purposes, but for spiritual purposes. Dr. Lundahl has taken this topic and placed it on a higher plane. So much research has gone into this book that I don't know how anyone could question it. I will recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about 'Near Death Experiences'.

Excellent reading material if you are interested in Near Death Experiences (NDE). The authors of this book do not try to decipher the subject into the depths of medical science which could easily sour the subject such as many other authors have done. The experiences written of those who have had the NDE are to the point and share both the bad experiences as well as the good which enlightens the reader into the depths on the NDE. It is quite easy while reading this book to have the feeling that you are in a private room with the person and hearing their story. I have recommended this book to many people and am quite satisfied in owning the book.

The authors are aware of 100 years of records kept by Mormons of near-death experiences and in clear terms summarize what this means practically and spiritually for living life now while looking at all the research done on near death experiences up to 1997.
Great Book. Can read it more than once
