I have observed that there is a trend among Americans of today to attribute credit for our creations to God or "Spirit" or "the Source" or "Oneness". It seems as though we believe our handiwork is no longer credible in the eyes of the world if they derive from our own minds; instead they must have originated from a higher, more universal source.

Morris and Olsen have taken this prevailing zeitgeist to a new level by outlining a novel governance model based on listening to God and allowing His Will to guide the administration of an organization.

Of course, individuals have been listening to God and employing His Will as they received it for thousands of years. What is astonishing in this case is that the authors have set out in a meticulous, highly-disciplined work, a model for doing the same within a governing body.

The chapters give (literally) the What, Why, Who, Where and How of establishing a governance structure wherein God Himself is the CEO, directing his representatives through dialogue with them as they sit together in prayer and contemplation.

It is nothing short of a remarkable achievement which, according to the preface, is generating considerable interest from Christian communities around the world. I believe the solutions recommended by this book will soon begin expanding beyond the Church to any organization which recognizes the limitations of trying to build on a foundation based solely on ideas coming from the human mind -- and chooses instead to employ the limitless source of the Mind of God in developing their projects.

I am using this book with a group of lay people. They are finding the reading very difficult and tedious. I am spending alot of time trying to help them connect to the chapters. People who know the language and the concept of spirituality and discernment will find this book helpful.

I purchased one of these as our parish is in discernment and on the advice of our consultant, this book was considered a worthy guide for our process. Unfortunately I was only able to purchase one through Amazon but it was enough to assist us during our first meeting. I had to go to the publisher to order enough for our group, the book is being republished and should be available in late march. This book is a must for groups in discernment

We're currently running a Bible study at our church, the Glen Methodist Church, in Garsfontein, Pretoria, South Africa, using this book as our resource!! It is a wonderful book for group study and really helps to answer the question, "How do we discern God's will in our lives"??? I highly recommend it!! For group or individual study or merely for reading pleasure!!!
This gives a basic yet solid understanding to the somewhat difficult task of discernment . So many books are written about it but Morris offers a version applicable to scholar and general reader alike.
The only hassle with the e-book is not having page numbers, thus making citing difficult.
