Monsieur Pamplemousse. A moment later there was a gentle stirring, followed by the padding of four large feet as Pommes Frites rose into view and made his way slowly across the floor of the restaurant. A loud lapping sound coming from the direction of a water bowl situated just inside the entrance doors confirmed Monsieur Pamplemousse’s worst suspicions.

I really love the Monsieur Pamplemousse books - every single one of them! I love the interactions between the characters and the FOOD . This little story is okay, but not as creative or funny as most of the earlier Monsieur P books.

I really love the Monsieur Pamplemousse books - every single one of them! I love the interactions between the characters and the FOOD talk most especially. these book are entertaining and educational, I have made many notes on French phrases, cuisine, hotels and things to do and see in the country - with the hopes of actually getting there someday. these are highly entertaining mysteries, suitable for men or women, and for any age, my teenage niece. I have recommended these little light reading 'mysteries' to others, although this particular one is not as intriguing.

Emphasising the importance of a healthy lifestyle to decrease one’s carbon footprint, Monsieur Pamplemousse tries to impress the well-renowned American food-critic Jay Corby, but disaster strikes on opening night and Corby storms out in a rage. It’s vital he is found before he ruins everything for Le Guide – luckily, star sniffer dog Pommes Frites, is hot on the trail of their only lead: a flimsy undergarment belonging to an exotic dancer they came across in a state of undress before the start of the sho. hriller & Crime. Monsieur Pamplemousse shuddered. It carries a large salary commensurate with the post. The supply of wines would be without limit; the choice would be yours. Doubtless other pleasures would be at your command.

Monsieur Pamplemousse shuddered. ‘I think not, Monsieur. The Director breathed a visible sigh of relief. MoreLess Show More Show Less.

Monsieur Pamplemousse and Pommes Frites are the nicest detective team I've encountered in awhile. I'm reminded a bit of Inspector Clouseau, although Monsieur Pamplemousse is brighter and more efficient, but he has a way of stumbling into dangerous and hilarious situations. I love Bloodhounds, so being privy to Pommes Frites' thoughts is a treat. The dry humor is spot-on and reading about the many dishes they sample in their travels will make your mouth water. I'm glad to find a new series that's so enjoyable.

I came across the Monsieur Pamplemousse stories by accidnetb on BBC Radio 4. Admittedly that was for a different story but when I dug around and found them on Amazon I just had to jump in and sample more.I took the opportunity to start at the beginning. And hwat a delightful beginning it is.
Monsieur Pamplemousse gets involved in all sorts of shenanigans sometimes aided by his faithful companion the bloodhound Pommes Frites. This is told in a wonderful satirical style by Michael Bond. Bond is, of course, much better known for the Paddington Bear stories but these books deserve a wider press. He manages to take French farce and combine it with an understated, gentle British humour in such a way that the resulting dish is truly delightful. There's some action, some humour, great food descriptions and more than a slight helping of the farcical. The voice in my head soon started to sound like Alan Bennett. Truly wonderful. If you need a break from Nordic Noir then this is the perfect getaway. A great first course but you'll need to read more.

This book is for adults and that is a treat. I ended reading the entire book aloud to my hubby as tears of laughter flowed down our faces. It had such a rapid pace going that I even forgot there was a crime.

The book was written from the perspective of Monsieur Pamplemousse, and Pommes Frittes, his beloved fellow foodie reviewer, whom happens to be a Blood Hound.

It is amazingly ribald, and witty. The food descriptions delectable, and the crimes abound! Inflatable dolls with a twist and policemen that are struggling...

I could go on but I do remind you it is an adult novel but not tasteless.

I shall find the others in the series. I feel I must in honor of my French Husband!

It is terrific oh, by the way, Michael Bond also pens "Paddington Bear" series.

A fantastic farcical piece. Michael Bond weaves his humor, so present in Paddington, into a raunchy and delightful tale. While the plot can feel slow, the humorous moments more than make up for that failing. Perfect for grown ups who like a laugh on the beach (or at the office).

Pick up any or all of Michael Bond's books about Monsieur Pamplemousse and his wonderful dog, Pomme Frites, as they encounter one mystery after another and solve them through a series of very funny and unexpected events. Delightful!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a very amusing cozy mystery full of old-fashioned 'naughtiness'.
