1970) A novel by Victor Canning. Adventure - The hero is an ex-priest just out of prison. The great affair is to move" writes one of his disreputable friends. November 1972 : UK Paperback.

On the death of his elder brother, Richard Seyton inherits the Seyton estate, which had been in the family since the fourteenth century.

The great affair is to keep moving (R. L. Stevenson) although it seems rather pointless in this improvident, indeed slightly touched, adventure story which certainly forfeits the suave excitement of Canning's earlier books.
