Vocabulary Cartoons makes learning vocabulary fun and easy by using brain-friendly memory aids in the form of visual and rhyming mnemonics. A mnemonic is a device used to improve memory. It helps you remember something by associating it with something you already know. Mnemonic devices have been used in many forms including keywords, acronyms, rhymes, poems, songs and visual aids. For example, you may remember this mnemonic from grade school, Columbus sailed the ocean blue in fourteen hundred ninety-two. This helps you remember when Chistopher Columbus discovered America.

This book works, she really remembers the words. My 10 year old loves the illustrations. I've used it for her and she looks forward to doing vocabulary. She has Asperger's and she's a visual learner, this was the best vocabulary book for her. I hate they haven't made more.

love this book. i got it for my son who have autism, adhd, and learn disability. this book is working really well with him. it helps him to remember the words because it has a cartoon example with the word. what i like is that it not only show you the word, but it also show you how it sounds when spoken and it gives the picture, then it also gives you a couple of sentence and the part of speech. all around this is an great book for the visual learner...will buy more

My son loves this book, he reads it every night. He said he wants to know big words and brags to anyone and everyone about this book. we are homeschooling and I just thought it would be a fun book and it is. It doesn't disappoint. He laughs as he reads it, and now is using those big words correctly. He is in the 3rd grade.

Great for all students but particularly with ESL students who need that visual cue. This is a great way to link the words and their meaning to an image. I found my students coming up to me saying they were running into these words in their reading and could now better understand what they were reading. Highly recommend these books.

I purchased this book for my 7th and 9th grade children, and they love it. It could be used for younger children as well. It is a fun addition to our learning library.

Vocabulary Cartoons is a highly efficient and humorous means of helping middle school students acquire vocabulary. It's use of mnemonic devices assists in learning the volume's particular words easefully but also encourages the student (and teacher) to apply them in other contexts. It is a go-to volume with all of my students.

This was a great book for me when I was studying for the SAT in high school. Although I learned some words from flashcards, I still remember the words from this book and in many cases learned them just from looking at the picture for one minute as the book claims. Each word has a reminding word and sentence for the comic so it helps you remember the meaning. I highly recommend this book for anybody studying vocabulary for the SAT or any other test. My only complaint is that some of the words are very common while others are rather obscure. But the more words you study the better!
Great book to expand vocabulary! Bought this to work on with my son when he was in 3rd grade; went through it again in 4th grade and he actually remembers a lot of the pictures for the words! It's a clever way to help learn & remember words. Will definitely buy the next one if a couple years.
