The Orphan Train Adventures were inspired by the true stories of these children; but the characters in the series, their adventures, and the dates of their arrival are entirely fictional. As for the historical figures who enter these stories-they very well could have been at the places described at the proper times, to touch the lives of the children who came west on the orphan trains.

Book Report Book Title: The Orphan Train Adventures Author: Joan Lowery Nixon Task 1: Telling which part of the story impresses me most. They must tell Frances why they would like to take care of them, the situation of the family, or other necessary information. If Frances thought that the environment was not suitable for the orphans to live in, she refused their request. At last, one boy, Eddie, was not chosen by any of the family. I am impressed by the attitude of Frances.

My daughter read the first book in this series (A Family Apart: The Orphan Train Adventures) and was hooked! We read the first book in a school "chat n chew" forum and the 5th grader boys and girls both liked the book. The series has 6 books that follows the kids in one family as they leave inner city New York for the "wild west" in Missouri and Kansas. Wonderful series!

This particular book is the second about the brother named Mike.

This is the best book i have ever read and it is very exiting packed with adventures and friends to learn. i was so exited when i read almost every page. the only bad part was at the end when the book didn't tell you who the spy was.

This is quite the action/adventure story.
This is about Mike Kelly,a 13 year old enlisting
in the army (union side),making a promise to
his best friend to return a pocket watch (if) this
friend dies and of course the friend is killed, which,
sets off a chain of events to last a lifetime !
Good writing. Older teens would like this.
