This book goes into great depth about the history but probably too much for a travel guide. I did not like the way the book was organized. I would prefer if when talking about attractions, it would tell about cost, where to buy tickets, hours, etc. in the beginning of the section. I used this on an ipad and the scalable maps were great. However, navigating between maps and descriptions of hotels, restaurants and attractions was a pain. As much as I wanted to like this guide, I think I prefer the LP guides despite all the attendant flaws.

This is exactly, what I was looking for. By dividing the country into North, South, East, West, the Cultural Triangle and the Hill country the authour has captured a full coverage of the Island that would be helpful for any visitor to Sri Lanka to select the places of interest that he would like to visit. Detailed description of places of interest has been painstakingly described so that a traveller could map out a plan to visit the country. I would recomend it to any visitor from around the world and even residents of Sri Lanka to purchase and plan their trip.

Covers information useful to all travelers, from backpackers to 5***** hotel addicts.

I used this guide extensively during my 2 weeks trip to Sri lanka. It was very useful and lot more detailed, e.g. When I hiked to little Adam's peak in Ella it had very detailed trail instructions, when some fellow hikers with LP stopped and asked me if they could use this guide for direction.
Also the restaurant were spot on!

There is a limited choice in guidebooks for Sri Lanka. I have found Rough Guides to be very good in the past, This new ebook seems, however, to have less information. And it is not easy to navigate. The publisher did not make it user friendly. One is always searching around to discover how to find what he wants. No index or search function. The book form of the Insight guide, which some people in our group had, was much more informative and easier to use.

We have some friends from Sri Lanka so we became interested in the country. We thought the book was helpful, and, more important, our Sri Lankan friends thought it was accurate.

Like other Rough Guides. Geared more to active young people . Up to date information, clear pictures and interesting cultural tidbits.
I have found this guide very helpful in preparing for my tour to Sri Lanka in 2014. I referred to it for outlining a 15 day itinerary. I found just enough detail for each destination to help decide if the site fits my interests. I look forward to testing the content when in Sri Lanka.
